Driver walks away from Bay Bridge roadway inferno
GOVERNOR DECLARES STATE OF EMERGENCY, FREE RIDES ON PUBLIC TRANSIT MONDAY

James Mosqueda thought he was dying.
His tanker truck hauling thousands of gallons of gasoline had just exploded on Oakland's MacArthur Maze, sending flames shooting 200 feet into the night sky.
Ten months on the job, the 51-year-old Mosqueda managed to pull himself from the rolled-over wreckage before the inferno burned so hot that within an hour steel girders beneath one freeway overpass melted like a marshmallow, collapsing the roadway onto the lower freeway deck.
The early Sunday morning blaze seared second-degree burns on the truck driver's face, hands and arms - and crippled part of one of the Bay Area's busiest freeway interchanges near the Bay Bridge, setting off an emergency declaration from the governor for a rebuilding effort that could take months.
Speed suspected Authorities say Mosqueda was apparently speeding along the westbound Interstate 80 ramp that connects to southbound I-880 when he lost control of his tanker and slammed into a guardrail. Crawling from the passenger window, he walked nearly a mile in the West Oakland darkness before he came upon a cab driver pumping gas at an Arco station on West Grand Avenue.
"He walked up to me and said, `I'm dying, please, please take me to the nearest hospital. I'm burning, I'm burning,'" recalled the cab driver who would only give his name as Anthony E.
Mosqueda got into the back seat and begged the driver to run every red traffic light.
"He was crying, he was in pain and he started crying," the cab driver said. "I tried to calm him down. I kept telling him, `You'll be all right.'"
As the two sped 10 minutes to Kaiser Hospital in Oakland, the cab smelled of burned hair.
In the early morning hours, the freeways were nearly deserted. The truck driver, who lives in Woodland near Sacramento, was the only reported injury. The California Highway Patrol was able to stop traffic before the overpass that connects eastbound I-80 to eastbound I-580 collapsed, some 30 minutes or so after the fire was reported at 3:42 a.m.
"We could have had hundreds of people killed if that was at commute hours," said Oakland fire Capt. Dwight Langford, who was one of the first on the scene.
The part of the heavily traveled MacArthur Maze where the collapse occurred will be closed for weeks, if not months, causing the worst traffic disruption in the Bay Area for commuters since the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake.
BART officials said Sunday they will increase the capacity of their trains by 50 percent today, and the CHP released a list of alternative routes from San Francisco to the East Bay and from the northern part of the East Bay to the South Bay.
CHP officers said Mosqueda was apparently driving faster than the 50 mph speed limit along the ramp connecting Interstates 80 and 880 near Emeryville when he lost control.

H yperKansaiMr2 (3:50:07 PM): Hi
international B (3:50:13 PM): sup
international B (3:50:15 PM): whos this ?
H yperKansaiMr2 (3:50:26 PM): so do mods like to mock people?
international B (3:50:54 PM): depends on if they say something stupid orr not
H yperKansaiMr2 (3:51:07 PM): how do you evaluate of its something stupid
international B (3:51:33 PM): there are forum rules... and obviously moral judgement
H yperKansaiMr2 (3:51:39 PM): if its something that you do not approve of or is it on a completely different bias?
international B (3:52:05 PM): its a bias that most* of the modds aggree on
H yperKansaiMr2 (3:52:13 PM): really
H yperKansaiMr2 (3:52:18 PM): so when you post
H yperKansaiMr2 (3:52:24 PM): lets say a snyde comment
H yperKansaiMr2 (3:52:33 PM): does it get the approval of all the mods first?
international B (3:52:37 PM): nope
H yperKansaiMr2 (3:52:37 PM): or do you just do it
international B (3:52:51 PM): how many snide comments have i ever posted ?
H yperKansaiMr2 (3:53:00 PM): not referring to you
H yperKansaiMr2 (3:53:03 PM): just in general
international B (3:53:21 PM): well there are several mods that post that sayu things i dont aggree with
international B (3:53:29 PM): like sigma pi, for example
international B (3:54:06 PM): but we are suppose to moderate based on good judgement, and set an example for ppl, not the oppisite
H yperKansaiMr2 (3:54:24 PM): so what does sigma pi do thats different?
international B (3:54:36 PM): he is jsut up iin everyones biz
international B (3:54:45 PM): im not about that
