I think the concern I've seen posted in the past, is after cleaning/recharging the filter, you don't let most of the oil to drip off before reinserting the filter. Some people seem to have problems with this extra oil gumming up the sensor. I've used these filters on the two Honda's and one Ford I've owned, and didn't have any problems with the sensor. I usually allowed plenty of time before reinserting. But since this is my first Subaru, maybe the WRX sensors are more sensitive.
as long as you do this lightly and carefully, you'll be fine, and going this route is actually way more efficient esp if your staying within 300bhp crank range, cause the stock airbox is very effiecient.
never oversoak the filter with too much oil, it will mess up your maf sensor, mind you it can be fixed by cleaning it.....
