Red face rs or wrx?

forgive me if i sound like i dont know what im talking about cuz i really dont.

im thinking of picking up either a wrx or rs bug eye. (not sti cuz i dont like the look) but im not sure which one i should start with. this will be my first car and bpang1 said i should start with the rs. but i kinda want a decent performance car and i know the wrxs is better than the rs for that. and if i upgrade the rs im thinking it would just be better to start off with the wrx. what is a good price on one of these babies? ive seen an rs in the paper for about 13k not that many miles under 30k i think. is it better to go through a dealer or private seller?

any feedback is good thanks.

If you plan on modding the car for more performance then it might be better to start off with a WRX and who knows it might have enough performance stock to tide you over for a while. I owned a RS before my STI and you have to do a bit of work to get any performance out of them. If you take your time and look you can find a WRX in that will be in your price range. My buddy who dosen't post on here waited until he found a WRX wagon that was what he wanted and bought it. He bought a 03 bug eye wagon with 8k and got it for like $18k or something it had tinted windows stock alarm and wet okelo seat covers which he liked because he surfs...

Thumbs up It's about time...

that you got YOURSELF a subaru.

It really depends on what you mean by "performance" if you do NOT plan on doing track days / auto-x / drag-racing...etc. then I would go with either. WRX is a good car to start with since it will probably (as stated before) tide you over for a while. if you get the RS you'll have better low end torque and no lag to worry about.

Both has it's pro's and con's and YO SHOULD DO YOUR RESEARCH on both so that you are happy with the decision that you make.

everything that can go on the WRX will with/without some modification will fit on the RS.

YOU need to decide on what your plans for the car will be!

If you go through private seller (which is what you'll probably have to do) you won't have to pay tax on it...etc. if the car you pick up has any aftermarket parts on it you may/may not have to pay more.

if you go through the dealer you'll probably have to. you will probably pay a markup that isn't justified.

words of wisdom: DO YOUR RESEARCH FIRST BEFORE YOU BUY!

so, your thinking of picking up a suby huh? i got a stolen one you can have.. just be careful though. LMFAO. ok, so i dont deal with those kind of peeps anymore. well, exactly what silver satin and infek said, what are you going to do with your suby? if your not gonna go do auto-x, drag, etc, i say the rs is good enough for YOU. but, maybe your first car should have some *****. hows your income? if u can afford the wrx, go with that, if not, the rs.

yea those ***** hang pretty low
drive em..
go to the dealership and drive one or ask someone u know to drive it
u want manual or auto?
if u want auto get the rs... lag is hard to control with the wrx auto cuz of the turbo.
manual get the wrx... its inspiring. (at first)
or even go to a meet im sure someone will either take u for a ride or let u drive it.
a guy at a meet let me test drive his sti, and even launch it. now were friends haha. he just handed me the keys and said go have fun.. and he didnt even know my name yet.
good luck!

I still say get the RS because you're not gonna take it racing.

Then again most guys with WRXs don't take their cars racing so whatevers.

Just see it this way...a WRX will cost you about $3-$4K more than an RS. You could take that money and apply it to the paint job, sounds and stuff you were mentioning.

Added bonus is that you'll have an easier time learning to drive manual in the RS because of the lack of turbo lag. Also, you'll probably find an RS that is in better condition than most used WRXs because many RS drivers don't wring out or modify their cars like many WRX drivers.

im a fast learner so it wont be a problem. but you got a point there. i do want to do my paint job first. so that i know which damn car is mine... haha just kidding. but yea ill either have to go for performance or practicality. i guess practicality wins if the rs has about the same amount of ***** as the wrx.....

Probably most of the people that responded have never owned a RS and I have spend the extra money if you can and get a WRX you'll be happier and don't worry about lag with a auto if thats what you want. Yes you probably can find a RS for cheaper they are the same looks wise as the WRX just don't have as much HP..But can be just as fun to drive. Here is the bodystyle they should have never gotten rid of..

Yes I know who cares what my old car used to look like I just love this body style..
