Definately make sure these guys pay for any and all damages. You're lucky they are insured. You'd be surprised how many business around here aren't bonded and insured.

I told him I want to take it to this body shop because my family and friends have taken their cars there. And he keeps repeating, saying it's too expensive and his friend does great work blah blah blah. And I told him that he doesn't have the right to tell me which Body Shop I have to go to, I get to choose. So I told him I will also get another estimate and if he still disagrees, we will go through his insurance or we go to court.

Do you guys think I'm right??
Sounds like the same old line shops always say when they are caught messing up someone's car. Take it to YOUR shop of choice, always.

Update#2 12-03-06

I met with the owner of Permier Auto Glass, Elmer Ramierz and informed him I got another estimate that he might be satisifed with that was done with my insurance carrier; which was about $821. But he still kept saying the estimate is way too much. He said he would take it to his Autobody shop and take care of the damages for far less. But I refused too and kept on telling him I wanted to take it to my own autobody shop. Mind you that I drove almost an hour to meet this guy at Union City and I live in Novato. He too refused and kept saying it's way to much and his autobody shop does a very well job. So I informed him that by law, I have the right to choose what ever autobody shop I want to.

Then this is when the excuses starts flying in:

First Excuse: He says the WRX body is too delicate and imiplied it's bound sooner or later.
My response: Doesn't matter if it's delicate or not, I brough my car to you with out any damages and I expect it to return the same way.

Second Excuse: There is no chance that his tech could possibly cause the damages, and the pictures I have of the damage with the blue tape was taken days after.
My Response: I showed him my friend's Digital Camera that has a calendar that says what pictures are taken when, but he stil refuses to belive it.

Third Excuse: Says that I wasn't watching the tech the whole time and didn't see him cause the damage.
My Response: You too didn't see what happen because you weren't there, I don't have to watch him the whole time. And that I have pictures that tell otherwise.

FourthExcuse: He sees a dent on the rear passenger window near the black strip on the roof. And says you have damage to your car already and you are just trying to get me to fix that dent too.
My Response: If I was trying to get that other dent fixed, the estimate would be way higher and he is free to call my insurance adjuster to talk bout the estimate, but he refuses too.

We argue in the parking-lot for about 45 minutes and I kept telling him his three choices were
1) Cut me a check for $821
2) Go through his insurance
3) We go to court

He didn't want to do any of these and just keeps telling me those excuses above. I told him I have pictures and they are worth 1000 words and I have a witness, etc and I will certainly prevail in court. So I repeatedly told him just to go through his insurance. If he is so confident that he didn't cause the damage, then he has nothing to worry about.

At first he says to take it my autobody shop and have the shop send him the bill. And I said that I don't trust him and I don't have the money to pay for it and that the autobody shop would want money upfront.

So he finally gives in and says he will go through his insurance. So I asked him for his insurance info so I can write it down and he doesn't know it or even the license#. So I just gave him my info and told him his insurance better call me A.S.A.P. so we can get this settled.

Sigh, ho ma faan!

1) Take his *** to court.

2) The judge will drive him into the ground with the gavel like a railroad spike.

3) By the time all is said and done, the windsheild job will have been for free.

Taking him to court will be my last resort. Since I have a feeling he might not go thru his insurance because I was asking for his policy# or any info about his insurance carrier and the only info he would give me is that it's Farmers.
So I called Farmers today to see if they are insuring his company, they searched by the Business name, phone numbers, his name, and location but it seems they don't carry anyone by those info. Anyways, since he doesn't really have a business location I already have some creative ways I will be able to serve him the court papers, since my witness and I can't do it myself

He finally gave in, and gave me his insurance info, so I'm trying to go through his insurance now.

that's a pity because I know Elmer has done some good work for i-club members in the past. After this I'll never use him again.

The Impreza roof is not prone to damage any more than other compact cars. That's what happens when a ****ing goober does work that a trained technician should be doing. Look for people that work on your car the same way they would work on their boss' car.

I would never use his business or recomended him again. My windshield installation is not even installed correctly too. When driving up/down an incline you can hear the sides creaking all the time, very annoying.
