I hope not. Apparently the volume of muslims (literally thousands) will not continue for more than a few days. I understand it's just some ritual when opening a mosque.

Holy crap...Hella just expressed more tolerance than Oaf...

Thanks, Helladumb, for at least aknowledging that the Muslim person you talked to may have been on edge as much as the people in your neighborhood who are put on edge by Muslims.

Kinda made me feel like standing up for them.....really wish I knew if they respect me or think I'm a dirty infadel sheep.
who woulda thought...

he asked a muslim... :rotfl: ...If that's what it takes to open your eyes, then so be it. I'd suggest talking to some of your neighbors and maybe reasoning with them a little.

I still don't understand the comparison to the burger king hat.

They had little white hats with gold around the vertical surface... kinda like those paper burger king crowns but without the spires......

I think that analogy would create the correct mental picture... ... I mean how many hats are gold? Didn't look like a miss America crown at all!!!

He bloody well should be on edge.
A lot of bad stuff is being commited by people similar to him.
Not saying this particular follower of the "religion of peace" is a terrorist or even supports it.

But I'd rather have a bunch of folks, like him, walking around with hurt fealings because "intolerant" people, like me, look at them with suspicision.

Yes, it sure as hell beats public execution in the streets for preaching Christianity.

This is exactly what I've been trying to say in the numerous pages of the askmuslims thread.

If it means that a large group of non-Muslim Americans are suspicious of Muslims without infringing their American liberties, then I’d much rather have them walking around with hurt feelings. It sure beats the opposite extreme of what’s done in Saudi Arabia, Iran and some other countries under Shira law that will kill you for being of open with another religion for much, much less. But wait... I know the answer to this... America is the apex of freedom so we should be above suspicion too, right? Given the delicate times, suspicion is the very least of our natural homosapien instincts. Yet it's somehow coined a product of our own ignorance?!

That said, I think Americans are handling the situation quite well. In fact, were are all the hate attacks towards Muslims if we aren’t? How many have their been on American soil since 9/11? The amount is minuscule at best. Someone like to compare those statistics to lynchings of African Americans in earlier times? A people that were shown prejudice for the color of their skin rather than being suspected of having a bomb strapped to their chest to virtually eliminate our way of life. There’s a big difference there if you think about it. Yet we're still humble...

If they wanted Helladumb to be more indiscriminate then they would be more open. Especially given the fact large numbers are gathering in public. Seriously, if I were them I’d run over to fastsigns and get a huge banner made in English and Spanish saying "you have nothing to fear... we are on your side." That way suspecting passer-by’s will be like "fheew... thank God."

Why, so everyone like you and Oaf can say they're just covering up their true motivs? I mean, the whole point of the AskMuslims thing WAS basically putting up a sign that said "you have nothing to fear...we are on your side." But clearly, that doesn't work because that site seemed to anger a few people here more than quell any ill feelings.

I'm not trying to start an argument here, I'm just trying to point out that last time a part of the Muslim community tried to put non-muslim minds at ease, you all jumped on them for being hypocritical, lying, etc...
But now you suggest doing basically the same thing?

But it's not the same thing.

You see, the group that Helladumb saw was part of a specific sect or Muslim group. Most likely progressives so we have nothing to fear anyways. I think that because there was a large number of them and because they're in America. Anyways, if they were to display/address another means to eliminate speculation of them being more extreme, then it would help us to be more discriminate and leave them alone. It wouldn't completely eliminate the suspicions but it would help set them aside a tad. I dunno... give us a heads-up by putting an ad in the paper or something if you don’t want us to be suspicious. I know them doing so is a shot in the dark but I just don't give a damn anymore. Otherwise, I hope you enjoy the countless non-Muslim eyes staring a hole through your back. I hope it makes you extremely restless, too.

Askmuslims was basically adding fuel to the indiscriminating idea Muslims want to be set aside from. You can't start an askmuslims website without specifically adding the views of the extremists and anti-American jihadists because they are, in fact, Muslim whether or not anyone here likes that or not. Therefore, the whole website seems to obscure the facts rather than point out the specifics. What they're doing only makes the process of discriminating between sects and groups (what Muslims should want) far more confusing. It puts this huge blanket over every Muslim and adds to the problem.

It would have been better if they used 'askpeacefulmuslims.com' while addressing the fact that these scum, albeit Muslim, are in the very distant minority. Then tackle the differences by being more discriminate between those sects and groups that pose a serious threat. Address the very fact that these people need to be singled out in their own right. We still viewed those few men of the cloth as being Catholic after the huge molestation scandal, didn't we? Funny, it was actually pretty easy for a lot of people to do this, too. Religion is not a subscription the majority can cancel just because the minority has put their reputation at stake. They should not pass them off as being cast aside from the one, true, peaceful Muslim group (what they'd rather you believe) just because they crossed the line of violence.

Speaking of that... he's talking to himself here now:

https://www.i-club.com/forums/teh-politics-forum-114/askmuslims-com-107602/

I wonder if he just got lost and doesn't realize where he posted, or is in search of a new, lesser informed audience?

Imo, to be fair, if the latter is true, his link should go the way of the dodo just like the "jesus will save you" posts
