Muslim holiday? Men with white capes and burger king hats everywhere!

Ok, so just wondering, since they are swarming all over my neighborhood.

They are all dressed in white, have white and gold hats that look like burger king crowns without the "spires," and they are gathering... not sure if in a single house or what.

Anyone know if there is some muslim holiday or something?
This has been going on at least the last couple of days..

Don't think there's any Islamic Holidays going on. You sure they're Muslim and not Sikhism, Hindu, etc? Maybe it's a family held ceremony prior to child birth, wedding or something?

So many rituals to even put a finger on it. Plus all these religions have a different calander so it's hard to match them up. Go ask them.

Definitely muslim (no dots, turbins, taxis, 7-eleven or gas station attire )....... did a little web search and muslims normally wear all white during hajj.... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... there are probably 50+ clogging up the neighborhood street. I will ask them...

Have them hold a "askmuslims.com" sign when you take the pic.

Do you think one of them would punch me if I put on a paper burger king hat?

Hajj is not a holiday.

I am not sure why they are dressed like that. It could have somethign to do with the death of Saudi king Abdulluh...

What about a wedding?
Just ask them already, I'm sure they won't mind as long as you're respectful.

I don't think that is a possibility for Hella.....

I imagine him walking up and saying something like....

"Is this a convienence store convention?" or something along those lines....

I pulled up along a few of them yesterday afternoon and they didn't even look at me... I think everyone has been gawking at them and they are ignoring it... that or they are in their own little world. I chose not to say anything.

OK, so I talked to one of them today. There were more and more of them during the day, clogging up all of the neighborhood streets. Schoolbusses full of them even. A very foreign site in our quiet little neighborhood on the edge of the Bay Area.

He heard me coming up and seemed alarmed, and almost concerned for his children... nervously glancing at their orientation to me as I approached. I asked im if there was some sort of major event going on, and he said they were initiating (or something like that) a new mosque down the street... and he indicated there would be many people for the next several days... Apparently, a tiny defunct church was bulldozed and replaced with a large mosque in the middle of a neighborhood that looks like a scene from the Dukes of Hazard series!!!

Anyhow, I was struck by how this guy reacted to me... made me think a little. Somehow I think the average American muslim is "on edge," and probably concerned that some crazy _ss infadel is going to do some hate crime on him or his family... opened my eyes a little.
Kinda made me feel like standing up for them.....really wish I knew if they respect me or think I'm a dirty infadel sheep.

The look on the faces of the neighbors is classic... like the world is coming to an end.
