LAWLZ, long as the work gets done, they don't care. And this freaking place needs me so much, they wouldn't fire me. They wrote me up three times for computer usage when I was at the branch...job security ftmfw!

Being still unmarried, I've never run the numbers myself, so I can't really say. This was just advice I heard from someone who made the decision to stay separate for tax reasons, but that was years ago and tax laws have changed. He was telling me it matters more as you keep moving to a higher and higher tax brackets. He was telling me also, when he made his decision there were two things different. One, the married deduction was less than two individual deductions combined, and the married tax brackets were also slightly less than double of the equivalent single tax brackets. So, maybe by now it isn't as big of a deal as it was 10-15 years ago, since both of those have changed.

don't get too comfy with the "they need me" argument. Eventually someone will come along that can replace you, and you'll be fired. then when fedex/kinkos is called for a reference all the write-ups will bite you in the ***

but are they still selling the previous version, because unless they discontinued it, they'll give you a refurbished old one. I knoe cuz this happened to me when i had my performa 550, and the 550's were discontinued they gave me a 6110 I think, it was hella w00t...75mhz ftmfw! (at the time...)

Ok that makes sense. Yeah in the past, the "marriage penalty" referred to that difference in tax brackets, but it was eliminated in 2003. I wonder if he ran his numbers now how it would work out?
