i hate to say it, but in my experience, pure bred pets > pound pets. our rescues have had some major vet bills. our pure breds have had no vet bills other than shots and checkups.

I've had the exact opposite experience. The rescue cat is strong and healthy, and the two purebred (one maine coon, one burmese) have all kinds of random health issues and require meds.

What's funny is that it was a 2001 Accord that hit me. She had a scratched bumper cover, bent bumper beam, and bent hood. No other damage. Upper and lower radiator supports were straight, headlights were flush and aligned with fenders, no leaks or anything.
