my brother had one of those, she was a beautiful dog and very nice. but she didn't get enough excercise and got into just about everything in his duplex. a bored, restless dog is a destructive dog.

i hope to god you own a home with a nice sized lot... that is definitely NOT an apartment friendly dog.

the jack russell gets crated when we are gone, she just sleeps. it's mostly for her protection, we have a huge cat that will kick her *** when we're not looking.

We are lucky. Our first airedale liked to gnaw on stuff so we had to break her of that habbit and put bitter apple, lemon, or even tobasco sauce on stuff so she'd get the hint NOT to do it.
you are lucky. for our labs, we have a nice dog run in the back yard. it's got a concrete slab for their house and water trough, and a run / poop area that is filled with pine and cedar shavings (have to rake that out weekly). they are also crate trained and chill in their crates in the house if it's really hot or cold / rainy when we are at work.
