tint question

I'm planning on getting the windows in our outback wagon tinted, and have heard that metalic tint can interfere with the in-window radio antena. Does anyone have experience with this?

I saw in another thread that a bunch of people like eclipse for getting the tint done. Any other
shops I should look at? Has anyone used the one by dbtuned?

If you are up for the drive Genesis Autoworks in Elk Grove, does a good job @ tinting. Liftime warranty No fading.

Eclipse can hook you up with a ceramic tint that won't mess with antennas or radar detectors.

I'm running it in limo on my OB and love it.

When I called Eclipse, they recommended using something other than Ceramic. They said its more expensive and has such a high resistance to heat that the top will start melting and can get gooey. I can't remember the stuff the said to get but it was cheaper and held up against heat such as good.

Anyone have experience with metalic tint and the in-window radio antennas? I have heard mixed information - a friend just had a forrester tinted and was told not to get metallic since that would interfere with the radio, and Bobby at Eclipse said that it would not interfere. (But then he also didn't seem to be aware of the in-window antennas.)

If the tint messes with the radio reception my wife will be rather upset.

+1 for Eclipse, I've had my car tinted for three years, and it still looks great.

I tinted my mercedes with cheap kragen metalic tint. It had an in glass antenna. I noticed no ill effects.

I'm not sure what kind of tint was used on Deede's STI, but it killed the AM reception. FM works fine.

I used to listen to my friend Monty on 1140AM.

Now having the HD radio tuner things can sound better.
