OIC.

IIRC, you had to pay a $1,000 premium for the stick shift, plus you got azz-raped by the EPA because it was classified as a gas guzzler.

The '00 isn't that fast anyway. Unfortunately, you're just asking for trouble when you buy an S4 of that vintage. Actually, German cars over 50k miles seem to be a bad idea in general. Ask Pauls neighbor Andre .
