SRIC irc chatroom?
The HD on my 486 was 256mb and I never thought I would fill it. Doubled, I could fit almost 500mb of info on there!!!
:rotfl: It's funny that I have twice as much memory on my keychain now than I did on that computer.

My dads work computer (286) had a 20MB hard drive. He had AutoCAD R9 and somehow it fit (barely). We had to constantly defrag to get enough room to save a new drawing.
when I had my 386 with Dos 3.3 you were limited to 33MB partitions. So I had this 120MB drive with C: D: E: and F: on it. That was huge!
I helped a friend install an 80MB SCSI hard drive and controller into his Amiga. I think it was almost $500 for the parts.
I'll have to check out Trilion

My first real computer memory was when I was in kindergarten or 1st grade and my parents brought home an IBM XT!!! It was around $3000 at the time, I used to play this game where equations would drop from the top of the screen and you had to type the answer before they got to the bottom, it was da bomb!
I also remember when we had a 486/50 with 4 MB of RAM, Mechwarrior 2 had just come out, but required 8 megs. I figured out a tweak where I could play for about 30 seconds, then it would start using the hard drive as virtual RAM and would get all choppy. Then a few months later we spent around $300 for 8 MB of RAM and I could play MW2 to my heart's content.
Oh yeah, and since we're on the subject of IMs, anyone remember ICQ? "UH-OH!"

If I haven't used ICQ for like 5 years, do you think my account would be disabled by now? I can't even find my user by doing a search on my email address.
