Someone stop me
National Automobile Dealers Association or something like that.
They've printed pricing guides for quite a while now, and I've found their prices to be a little bit closer to reality compared to Kelly Blue Book. Usually they are both pretty accurate, but when they differ NADA seems to come out on top more often. I usually check edmunds too, just to make the range seem more robust.

I found one in the Ghey Area that's an '01 with 49K on the clock going for $30K.
I emailed the guy asking him why the $10K premium over blue book, so we'll see what he has to say. I know they only made <700 of the 01/02 's.

Anyone know what it takes to get a car from Canada to Kalifornia and registered here?

It's actually a US car so there shouldn't be any DOT issues. I've been chatting with the guy through one of the BMW forums and I can get a pretty good deal on it, especially if I sell off those hideous wheels.
I'm also looking at a couple of local S52's this weekend. They just cry out for some FI!

FAQ: Buying out of state.
AFAIK all you have to do is get the title signed off, get a smog and register it.
nothing fancy.
maybe a headlight/brakelight inspection at a local CHP office or by your friendly neighborhood law enforcement officer.
