Thought Ev's post was kind of funny in comparison to GT's.

damn you evil insurance companies... doing nothing but giving me and my wife excellent coverage
seriously though... i had AETNA EPO with 100% coverage and $10 co-pays, they covered everything under the sun and more. Sutter, Mercy, and UCD were all in-network and i could see any doctor or specialist at any of the facilities, no referrals. sucky part was it cost me close to $300 a month out of my paychecks.
now we have united healthcare with a 90% coverage EPO, but it costs me $30 a month and has an out of pocket max of $1500. so we each put 50 into an FSA each paycheck. same level of coverage, same hospital groups in the network, and with the FSA and the out of pocket cap, it actually costs me even less. so far we've had over $3k in billed services because of the baby on the way, yet our total out of pocket is under $40. we might hit the max with delivery services, but still not a big deal.
i have 0 sympathy for people who don't take advantage of the education system and go out and get a good job with decent benefits. i'm the product of ****ty public schools in rancho cordova followed by a lowly state college and make a decent ( ) living with good benefits.

flexible spending account. you put a small ammount of money into it each paycheck. it's pre-tax, and you can use up to the full annual ammount at any time in the year. the sucky part is if you don't use it, you lose it at the end of the year. we new before we enrolled for this year we would need it, otherwise i probably wouldn't set one up as big.
