It saddens me that I have to point out the extremely, painfully obvious to you, but here goes.
See, you posted saying you were the most helpful person in the thread, and, if you took sybirs suggestion and "gave it a rest", then the helpful flow of information in this thread would cease. I posted that you've done nothing more than anyone else in the thread, which is to just recommend a particular brand and model, so your claim of "most helpful guy ever" was a bit untrue. Then you introduced some irony in to the mix, by quoting my original post, doing exactly what you have done (simply recommending a brand and model) and said "this helps a ton" with an obvious sarcastic slant.
Well played, sir. Well played.

I guess after 15 yrs of using radar detectors. I have no idea what I'm taking about. Carry on.
OP good luck with your purchase. Buy an X50, RX65, 995, STi or V1. Learn how to use it. Take a look at some of the links in the thread above. There is a ton of info that will help you make a decision you can feel good about.
Everyone else,
I hope your arrows fail...

wow... what the hell happened to this thread. Aaron and Matt, I decided to buy the Valentine because you guys are my friends and I trust you guys.
If someone on here that had some sort of certificate that he could show me, that proved he was an expert in the science of the radar detector of course i would trust that person. Since I have asked most of my friends on here on many occasions what they thought of a product and their experiance with a certain product that is why i trust them.
They expressed their opinion of a certain product. They both have this product. If they had different products i am sure they would give me their opinions on that one as well.
Anyways, end of the story.... I bought the Valentine and I can't wait to have it here. I don't speed all the time, but it would be nice to have just in case.

Cale, arrows or not, the V1 does have some of the best detecting capabilities out there. You can't go wrong with it or any of the others ipozestu posted about as well. You'll definitely be happy with it.
BUT,
Remember, cops don't just ooze radar for fun. Radar detectors are not cop detectors.

A while back, Bell (I think it was Bell) flirted with a 'cop detector' that picked up the police radio band signal and could determine its strength (for proximity to the car since all the cars are their own repeaters). I remember the review said it was sort of spotty, but I never heard of anything more on it.
My point is, not all cops have their radar running all the time, and therefore you can still accidentally drive right by a cop doing 80+ and they'll pull you over. Or you could roll through a red light without realizing a cop with sitting on the other side of the intersection.
And that doesn't even get into the issue of laser like was already brought up.
Personally, I think all radar detectors as a whole are a waste of money, but I can see why some people like them.
