In my experience tire shops WILL NOT install two different kinds of tires front & back... liability issues.

They only apply that to snow tires usually. I've had 3 different kinds of tires on a car before.

Thanks for the offer, but I do have an '05 STi.

Luke over at the Tire Rack sent me an email and he said not to worry if the difference was 25.1 vs. 24.9... Apparently it's not a big enough difference to cause any harm.

It won't grenade so much as lock up and bring the car to a sliding halt.

I'm still not sold on going with those tires. I think I'm going to hold out and try to find a used factory Potenza. I'm picking up the replacement for Erica's current mom-bomb this weekend so until we sell her Sorento we'll have 4 cars for 2 drivers. I don't have to drive the STi... I could drive the Mustang or the Sorento, but both of those are up for sale and bad things always seem to happen when you drive cars that are being sold in the near future.

Over my dead body... and Erica's too. She wouldn't be caught dead driving a minivan. When our Explorer got totaled in March we had to get a quick replacement. We had looked at the Sorento's before and figured it would fit the bill. We bought the one she wanted which had everything EXCEPT 4WD, the 1 thing I wanted. I was trying to convince her to buy a Grand Cherokee. Now that she has seen the light, that's what we're buying.

It's an '01 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4WD with 50K and every option available: V8, 5 spd. auto, leather/heated/power seats, power everything, moonroof, 10 disc Infinity sound system, chrome wheels, tow package, and the best yet: Quadradrive. For those unfamiliar with Jeeps, Quadradrive is their top of the line 4WD system able to transfer 100% of the engine's power to any 1 wheel!

It even has a bumper to bumper extended warranty that the original owner purchased. I'm already working on convincing her that it needs a lift kit.
