pls halp

Just got to my grandmothers here in Sac and was grossed out because it smelled like a burning greasy turd. I than realized it was my car that tore the front passenger CV boot. Anyone wanner help me do an axel tomorrow or Sunday? I have never done one but I hear its not to hard if you know what your doing.

Thanks SRIC!

PS I am near Miata Subaru but it should be fine for short trips, no? Oh I have no tools either.

All I know is its not as bad as you think to drive on a torn cv boot just stay away from driving over water or dirt.

I know but I would rather not drive back to Palo Alto slinging grease all over and if anyone is not too busy I would prefer to take care of it here. Plus its nice meeting SRIC people when I am in town.

Also: I have an 8 am appointment at imperial works to get a tint.

The hardest part maybe is to dislocate the hub from the spindle......... IF the spindle axle has been seized in there and have never been taken apart before. Mines took like 3 levels of air hammers lol.

Use duct tape if need be as a temp fix. Ive seen it before and it works to seal it back up so you keep the axle grease inside the boot. At least you can get around town and not worry to much.

I got a new front passenger side axle im selling ($45), if your looking to swap the axle over. The install isn't bad at all, just dont forget to mark the strut bolts so you can keep your alignment before unbolting them. You can swap one in an hour or less taking your time.

I just did the boot last weekend and do yourself a favor and either buy the used axle here on iclub or get one from an auto parts store. You can be done in an hour or less by just doing an axle swap with basic tools.

Cleaning, re-greasing, and re booting a cv joint is gonna chew up a ton of time otherwise.
