The Physics of Racing

Heres a great link that I found on another forum. Its very imformative especially if you know physics.

Actually, the physics are very basic.......well they were for me...I just finished Physics 11A and 11C at Sac State. I can see how the formulas can intimidate people......I actually had bad dreams about physics formulas during finals in the classes. (Let's not talk about that any further).

It's kind of cool to be able to calculate how much frictional resistance a tire has before it breaks loose in a corner, or the stresses that a suspension component experiences while the car is riding down a beat-up road. ect.......

If only I was real good in math (& liked it, but I don't), it would be more fun......but at least after I finish Calc III and Diff Equations I won't have to calculate the math much myself.....The engineers I've talked to use math programs to calculate all their equations and formula's.

I took Physics at Fresno State but I took the non calculus pre-med physics (2A and 2B). Did you take the engineering physics or the same one as me? If you know calculus, it makes physics a lot easier. I wish my teacher would have used examples from that site. I'm sure I would have payed a lot more attention.

Engineering based Physics.....going for my Mechanical Engineering Degree. It seems that physics instructors as a rule make it as boring as possible to learn physics. We stopped asking our instructors for help because when we did ask a question on a subject that we were having difficult grasping the theory, we were more confused and frustrated after the explanation then before. This is so common that if you get a 50% in the class you pass with a C.

I'm looking forward to "practicle" applications of physics in my Enginnering classes.

By the way, is there anyone here on the club also going to Sac State for Enginnering?

I dont know anyone going there for engineering but I believe Mr. DbTuned has a degree in mechanical engineering.
