well the Mobil1 filter is engineered specifically to work with Mobil 1 oil, has synthetic filtering media (which is what you want usually), and you can get it in high capacity versions for about the same price as the normal ones.

K&N filters are also very good, but they're a universal type. i'd still recommend it though, especially if you can't get the Mobil1, or if you use a different synthetic oil (royal purple for example).

OEM is always good too, nothing wrong with running those. it really comes down to whatever you want to run.

You are all aware of the recent change in Mobil 1's synthetic base oils, yes? Redline is now the superior product. Worth the extra cost considering you can go 10,000 miles on it easily.

hmm.. i dont really use synthetic.
i buy whats on sale. like.... mobile-1 5000 for 1.99$ @ Kragen.

I use amsoil and canton mecca filters and run them 10k between changes. Oil comes out clean, but I change it anyway. Filters come out nasty.
