Well, I don't know what the pay would be, but for better hours you could hit up a Comp USA or Best Buy. I worked at Comp USA in Roseville in 98/99 as a tech and met a lot of good people there. The people there in the business office ended up moving in to some IT stuff and helped me in to a kick *** position with my current employer.

Are you going to school at all? If you get in to a CS or CE major they usually do internships and you can get in with a company doing IT. One guy in our group who is incredibly good (far better than I am at what we do) started as an intern about 3 years ago now. They hired him when he graduated and now he's making probably $50k+ (if not more I'm really not sure) and has the experience under his belt to land a much higher paying position if he were to look.

I don't know of any IT callcenters in the area - we used to have one, which is how I got started. They moved most of our entry level IT positions to other parts of the country unfortunately

You might look into Best Buy and trying to get into the Geek Squad.

nah, the roseville store im sure does that. I drive out to the placer area. Also, that job posted sounds like a great oppertunity. But, i have only 1/2 the requirements. Knowing how **** Sacramento businesses are. They want 10-20 years experence in these

- Health/Medical insurance carrier experience working within the I.T. department on data files layouts and EDI formats and processes preferred

Strong understanding of data layouts from multiple sources.
• Familiarity with internal/external information sources provided in EDI formats.
• Health/Medical insurance carrier experience working within the I.T. department on data files layouts and EDI formats and processes preferred.

I have no clue on any of this.

This is one of the positions I interviewed for; I think this would definitely be something you could do. Don't be scared away by the "coordinator" title, it pretty much is an entry level position.

If you don't mind manual labor you could work for your county or something. You put your time in there and you get a nice pension. I know in Jersey even garbagemen make about $35/hr. after being there for a few years.

manual labor?

you're down w/ manual?
if so i can get you hooked up with some HAzMat abatement crews.
moneys good, hours can be long and if you don't speak spanish you'll be lonely at first BUT you can become a supervisor quick since you can communicate with the formen and site supers.

oh and did i mention you have to be around hazardous materials like asbestos, lead and toxic mold.
but other than that...
