up auburn folsom is a pretty good ride. if you take newcastle road there are a couple really good hills going up into auburn.

The horse trails that parallel the American River bike trail are the best places to go for running in Sac. The ground is a lot softer than the asphalt, which is nice if you are doing high miles and are prone to shin splints.

Well it was ~54 miles round trip by my computer from the parking lot at the hatchery to old town and back...

i wish it was that far. if it was i would be averaging 22.5mph. thats one of my favorite triathlon training rides because its dead flat.

the american river is 23 miles long from nimbus dam to the confluence at d. park.. so it depends on how far the trail strays from the actual path of the river, but it should still be pretty close to 23 miles 1 way
