Can anyone find a place to download these games? Akalabeth and the Ultima Series to be specific.

Not sure how well these DOS style games would work on a modern computer

 

A lot of times what you'll be able to find are people re-doing the games for modern systems because the older ones will have issues.

A lot of older games have speed issues since they counted on the processor being super slow, and didn't take timing aspects into consideration.

I totally forgot about the Turbo button on the front of older PCs until you said that.

 

Those were so funny. I remember those.

 

It was Wizardry. Remember the spell "Tiltowait"? Played that around 1983 at my friends house. All green vector graphics. Same monsters you described.

 

I was going to guess "Temple of Apshai"

My favorite old RPG is "wasteland" by EA. I re-played that one a year or two ago and it was a lot of fun.
