I'm not really worried about getting water in it.

I think the SF looks better.

**** you. I don't think my results are mediocre. I've made a habit of complaining about everything.

I think what the AEM really has going for it is that the filter on it is huge. Literally double the size of the Cobb. I think that large filter is the key piece that might make it better. From a temperature perspective, I think the AEM is worse. Yes, it is outside of the engine bay. But it is in a space that doesn't get any air flow. It looks like the AEM will have lower temps while the car is stopped. But when in motion, the Cobb will have lower temps as it actually has air ducted to it.

Ultimately, performance is moot. I don't think I will be making enough power to even exceed the stock intake.

Outside of that, it seems that the Cobb will make more noise than the AEM, which I like. I also like having the box and snorkel deal. If I were to put the AEM on, I would want to paint it black.

Not worried about the water. But as I think about it more. I suspect that a cone could ruin my day.

I ran the grimmspeed intake on my old spec.B, which sounds like it's similar to the AEM, and the IAT's at speed were a few degrees below the stock air box and snorkus. I also noticed it drop to near ambient temperatures faster than the stock setup. Was it worth it for the power gain? Nope I would have been much better served getting a VF52.

The function is negligable if I'm not anywhere near the limit of the function.

Im pretty sure multiple people now have said the CAI is better... yet, you like the look of the other better..

Why do you even do this to yourself?

At maximum performance, the CAI might be better. At the minimal performance I'm at and the moderate performance I plan to be at, they're arguably the same.

Might as well go for the other that it more pleasing with looks and sound.

Why not have room for possible expansion in the future?

jQQ, y u so ignit?

in fact, when pushed to the absolute flow limit, the sf will support more power before pegging the voltage CEL. 600whp worth of flow, actually. BTDT. The aem beats it overall in almost all situations though.

wait nvm I'm dropping real info/knowledge and not how pretty things look, ignore me.

I've shelved parts for a long time. But that's a long time to shelf a part.

Oh, legit. Good thing I'm keeping the SF.

IAT's at cruise with the CAI are 2-3 degrees above ambient. With the stock box I was seeing 10 degrees differential or more most of the time, and the time-to-ambient (or steady state at cruise) was way, way longer with a stock/engine bay-sourced setup. I played with a few different feed setups on the STi and didn't note a huge difference, the stock covers did a pretty good job of routing air, and on the Fozz air is pulled from around the fog in a similar way.

What are your IAT's at cruise/speed? How high do they hit in traffic?
