On the same topic of hawaii shens...
The second time I went to Maui I bought this book:
and it was great. Used it again last summer when I was there. SUPER detailed instructions on hiking trails/waterfalls ect that a lot of people wouldnt otherwise really know about (at least tourists).
Got the same book for Oahu. Going to be reading thru it and picking out the best trails ill wanna hit up next summer
