but while we were all at the funeral, my aunt and her husband went to the house and cleaned it out.

we got there after the service and the entire collection was gone.

my mom confronted her sister about it but was too distraught to really put up a fight about it at the time. plus i was about 10-12 y/o and she didn't want me having all those guns in her house.

i got a handful of guns (his personal favorites) that he kept at his sister's house next door just in case of this very thing.

some really cool pieces, but prolly only 1-2% of his entire collection.

I don't see any reason you couldn't go after it all now. Wills don't have expiration dates.

If they were low enough to steal stuff willed to their family member while everyone was at the funeral, chances are they sold all that stuff at 5% what it was really worth...

that sucks but they are technically still yours, so when you get your own place, will you wantto get them back?

yeah he had some really nice stuff.
this is some of the stuff i DID get:
a Civil war officer's pistol (cap & ball break barrel) w/ a "US" medal embossed into the wood handle...it doesn't fire cus the break barrel is too old & weak and i'd be afraid it would blow up in two pieces but it's a nice collector's piece.

also have a .22cal version of the 9mm german ruger(sp?) which ive heard is worth $ (has the double headed **** eagle on the grips)

and a really good condition SK in original battle condition w/ a bayonet from the vietnam era.

and my great-grandfather left me a nickel plated 32cal officer's pistol w/ pearl grips from WWI.

so, basically i have one really nice collector's gun from almost every US war.

just need a revolutionary war musket and a compact full auto rifle from Iraq and i'm set.

yeah, but this was YEARS ago (1988-89 IIRC) and my aunt just died about 2 years ago from Hep-B plus i have no idea how i could ever recover them since i'm 99% sure they hocked them all by the following week for $.
