2x wireless cards
That would do your PC and the laptop.
I'm not sure on the printer. I've never shared one like that.

Can you fix my intarweb?"
Got it?
Got it?

Doesn't really make sense though, because a lot of damage could be done in under 2 minutes by an intruder anyways...Being given short leases is not a "problem" you can fix on your end. I'd try and discretely (or indescretely if you prefer) find out if the wireless network is setup to give short leases to unregistered computers.

It'd be funny if the guy left the router unsecure.
try going to 10.7.1.5 (your default gateway adress) in your web browser and try admin/password or admin/admin for the login info.

or, find the IP range you are using for the network, and hard set a distant IP in the config so you are not using DHCP, which seems to be the problem
IE - your network is on a 192.168.1.x range, hard set your ip to 192.168.1.178 or something like that, and use 4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.3 for your DNS servers
thats something to **** off the IT there, but hell, you are already doing that by trying to connect

If the Printer/Scanner/Fax/Copier/Toaster/Phone/Bathub is setup for wireless, then you should be good to go.
If its setup for wired networking, wire it near the router/switch.
If its not setup for either, then plug it into your desktop (like I'm assuming it already is). Browse to the "Printers & Faxes" folder. Right click on your printer, and scroll down to "Sharing." From there you can turn enable the printer sharing, give your printer a name, etc. Then, go to the wife's laptop, and add the networked printer. On her machine, go to "Printers & Faxes" and click on "New Printer." A new printer wizard will come up, and somewhere along the lines it'll ask you if its a locally connected printer or a networked printer. Select that and it'll search the network for shared printers. Find the one you shared on your PC. Now, anytime your PC is on, she can print anything from the laptop.

Yeah, that would be a much better option. Just going with what I've got here.
