If you let Window's zero config run and if the router was changed to not broadcast the SSID, then your computer will try to reconnect all the time. That's why it is recommended to use 3rd party software to connect.

I don't have any third party software for connecting, but it worked before anyway. And there is no security on our wireless- it's open/shared. no key, no nothing.

Well if you set up your wireless access point list correctly, connecting to known AP's are automatically done as soon as windows starts up.

It does connect. And then two minutes later it disconnects, then finds the access again, then two minutes later disconnects, then finds the network ad infinitum.

sounds like your wireless has commitment issues. maybe you should seek counseling.

Maybe a few Tony Danzas would straighten things out...

Have you tried to turn off the AP router, then turn it back on?

I'm not able to mess with that. I am hoping to try to figure this out from my end. I'm using my laptop here, and I happen to have wireless. I was never configured to be on the network, I am just not prevented in any way. So, I'd rather not go to our IT guy and say "hey, I'm having a hard time postwhoring from my laptop. Can you fix my intarweb?"

Got it?
