That's just my opinion.

I've been around for a long time, and there has ALWAYS been a swear filter. What site are you talking about!?

It's been enforced in some way as well.

If you are referring to the points system, that's only 3 years old or so. Before then there wasn't any disciplinary action other than editing and slaps on the wrist. Eventually admins would just ban people.

I love how this has become such a huge issue...

I would have to say that my biggest question is this... What is wrong with the "Report Post" button? It is there, it looks like a red triangle with a black line in it, and it WORKS.

Is it so impossible to moderate based solely on reported posts? I mean wouldn't that be the most unbiased way to do it?

As it is now it seems more like the Members Vs. Mods Vs. Vendors.

If points were awarded solely from Reported posts wouldn't that be the most just way of doing it? More of a "Moderation by the People" kind of feel about it? (no I am not a commie... at least I don't think so)

And Mods please don't take this as me trying to tell you guys how to do what you do. I don't have any beef with any of you guys and I don't want to create any. I just feel that the "Report Post" button doesn't get as much attention as it should.

Unfortunately no. For example, I modified the F and U in RussBs post based on the fact that someone reported it .

all suggestions are welcomed and i like this one

the only thing i see happening is lets say user a and user b both dodge the swear filter. they keep posting and a week later they get in an arguement and they search and start reporting each others posts

then we are in a whole heap of BS
