any one have any thought on this Reciever(TX-SR703 or any Onkyo ones.

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-QDXHBHv...420#morephotos

It has a mic that will calibrate the speakers for you.

the price is nice.

btw, I'm a newborn n00b when it comes down to receivers. I should have kept up but I failed.

Onkyo is as good as or better than Denon, I'd totally rock it, good choice btw. I was afraid you were going to say Sony or Pioneer, ugh!

Onkyo isn't quite what it used to be. Still decent stuff, but not worth the same premium prices as before. YMMV.

I remember the Gold Onkyo vacuum tube recievers, those were dope.

The M-510, only 100 made, 40 imported to the U.S., weighing in at a slim 160lbs.

Hold the phone. Pioneer Elite is some amazing stuff. Lastly any of the Sony ES line will go head to head with anything you stack against it. Personally, I've had a SONY DA555-ES for 7 years. This thing was so far ahead of it's time, you wouldn't believe it. This has some of the best surround sound processing capabilties I have ever heard. It is getting dated, 5.1, no HDMI or component video. My TV has a million inputs though. It is also a SONY XBR line.

The old Sony ES stuff was good (I used to own some of it myself), and Pioneer Elite electronics were almost on par with Denon, but not quite (they should stick with their TV's). For the price that you would pay for the Sony ES stuff, I found I could go with a Marantz reciever, which was better than the Sony ES stuff at the time.

MY STR-DA555ES is starting to feel dated. I'm thinking about getting the new 5200ES due out in Jan.

EDIT: Oohhhh. Looks like it will be available tomorrow.

You're trying to tell me that I can order these speakers, which cost about $2500 ea, from Best Buy? They're not even a Definitive dealer. Furthermore, my roommate tried to order the top of the line Klipsch through Best Buy and they couldn't do it.

So I have an appointment next week with someone from the home theater company to check out my house. I need a receiver, dvd player, and sound and I think that should cover it. Not sure if those flush mount ceiling and wall speakers are better or not. I like how clean they look, but not sure if they sound better.
