Help - Pulling engine and I'm stuck - 03 WRX Wagon

I spun a rod bearing at the end of March and picked up a used 2005 EJ20 long block. Well I have everything done except pulling the shifter fork rod. I can't the thing out no matter what I do. I just moved to Elk Grove and need to get my car back on the road ASAP as my daughter will be starting school soon and putting her on my motorcycle just isnt' an option.

Anyone have some spare time to stop by and give me a hand? Beer and pizza will be provided (beer after of course ). I'm in Elk Grove off Laguna Blvd.

Tow trucks have been available for , oh, I don't know, 100yrs.

You need a 12mm socket, an extension, and a 12mm wrench.

6mm bolt into fork shaft done but the shaft doesn't slide out.

Like I said, everything else is disassembled.

Get the cherry picker hooked up, take some of the weight of the engine remove all of the bolts holding the tranny to the engine and give the engine a wiggle as you pull on the shaft. It'll come out

OK.
1stly...that's the clutch release bearing fork. Thought you were talking about the shifter input shaft at the rear of the tranny.

With the bolt screwed into the pivot shaft, use a long handled screwdriver or preferably, a pry bar, and pry the bolt out.

It's difficult, but it will come out.

FYI - pry par did the trick

Engine is removed and new engine is sitting in the compartment while I try to match up the transmission shaft and the engine.. as well as the lower 2 studs into the bell housing.
