we got the tree, got it hom, got it up the front stairs (1st level is actually the second level in front because the house is on a hill) and we find out the hole in the bottom is too small for the stand we have and I have noooooo clue where the large drill bits are

That's from the nail that held it to the temporary cross stand.
Your tree stand should use thumscrews or something similar to hold the side of the tree in place.
