besides.. everyone knows that if you want to score fast cash, you file a false renters insurance claim, not an auto claim.

give me my stockk exhaust LOL. this isnt about payments dude, i can pay for my car just fine every month, its about the debt im in, and how im not comfortable with it. and getting a different car and the bike of my choice would cut my debt in half.

and john, im not getting an older gixxer. i was just looking to see what the insurance was because i know what i used to pay for that bike, and now its ovre 3 times what it was. just a comparison.

I'd feel bad for you but i was in the same boat. when i was 20, I paid 2000 a year for liablity only on a 4-cly 87 mustang.
Turning 25 and getting married didn't help me nearly as much as I thought it would. Getting a policy that covered home and car saved me way more.

seems like a no brainer to me. but... then again, i've only had 2 people try and screw me/my insurance co over by filling a false reports.
Damn people always looking to make a 'buck'.
They check the credit not to find out if you file false reports (that would be on your criminal record ), they run your credit to get your scores to assess your "risk" or how responsible you are. It's BS, IMO, but they claim to have studies showing a relation between crappy credit and crappy drivers.

And on fraudsters...

when my wife used to work for Progressive, they would catch people all the time. What people don't realize is that when the person at the insurance company puts you on hold, they are still recording what you say. SO, they had a few instances where someone would be on hold and then because they thought they weren't being recorded, they would be talking to their friend about how they arranged the car fire or arranged to get their car stolen, etc. What would happen is when Progressive would do quality control reviews on the tapes (at random), sometimes they'd catch this, then go back and OWN the person who filed the claim.

The irony is that Progressive was doing "quality control". They have ****ty service.

Hey, I got my new exhaust sitting in my garage, it'll go on this weekend. I thought the exact same thing that you did, getting into a cheaper car and using the extra money to pay my debts....not as perfect as an idea as I thought. I had ALLOT of debt, and now its all paid off. Go get a low interest consolidation loan from the bank or a credit union with your parents as a cosigner, that'll give you consistent payments with a date that it will be paid off. I was going to do that until I found I had mutual funds and and IRA sitting around that I could liquidate and use that to pay off. It sounds like you are in the same position that I was in, except that I pay house and rent bills too.

Well, it was either that, or live with debt.....hmmmm, lemme think! duh. I have a 401k anyways, the only reason I did the IRA was to get more moulah back on my tax return.

Did you work out the real costs though? Cashing out a long term investment like an IRA vs. getting a personal loan with something like a 5-8 year term at maybe 6% - 8%?
