Not true sukka.
MTBE is hazmat, always has been, always will be.
The idiots @ the capitol were bamboozeled by big oil into thinking that adding hazmat to fuel would be a good thing.

i have some cfl's, mosty on lights that are on for extended periods of time such as front entry and back yard patio. while they are efficient and very long lasting, they take forever to fully come on.

we have title 24 compliant can lighting in the kitchen and the bulbs are hideous looking, thankfully they are so bright you can't see the bulb when they are on. unfortunately they also take forever to fully light up.

flourescent lights do not work with a dimmer unless the light is specifically designed to work with one.

"warmer" colors are available, we tried a few different types in our kitchen before deciding on which to get.

My inlaws put florescent under cabinet lighting in their kitchen to meet title24. All of the recessed cans are incan.

Bring some tech on that, sukka. It didn't mean it wasn't known to be a hazardous substance, only that nobody knew it was going to end up prevalent in ground water. Just being listed as hazardous doesn't mean it shouldn't be in gasoline... given that gasoline itself is a hazmat...

p.s.- MTBE sucked. Oxygenated gas is silly.

Why? people just said in this thread they have their problems with them... in reality it wouldn't matter if they spent the money actually trying to come up with a better way of making energy, instead of spending all their money on campaigning to ban incandescent lights

The thing is a lot of people do use them without anyone forcing them to (i.e. without a ban). My parents aren't even close to hippies, but they use the florescent in many of their light fixtures to save money.

The thing that's annoying is when politicians try to force their ideas down our throats because they think they know better than the people.

One of the major voices against nuclear power generation decades ago now is sorry he convinced the world nuke power was unsafe. Nuke power is where it's at.

In some communities end users can have some say in what kind of power generation there power comes from. Where's my choice for nuke at?

Wonder what Hollywood thinks of the lighting laws? I'm sure it won't cost them a thing.

They will probably be exempted since incandescant lighting is crucial to their industry. ASSuming that retarded law even gets passed. The governator might have something to say about it.
