the end of incandescent light?

Here goes California again with their communist ways. They want to ban the use of incandescent light bulbs in the state. They're intending for households to switch over to CFL's (compact fluorescent light bulbs), by taking away our right to choose. What next? Take away our right to choose the vehicle we drive? Animals!

People shoud use more CFLs (there are 6 or 7 in use in my house already) but banning incandescents as if that will save the planet is retarded.

<-- fully aware of the ironies of this post.

Incandescent have a warmer glow to them that I prefer. Are they going to try to get rid of halogen too?

We just put LED fixtures into the MRI room that I just completed at work. They were over $1000 a piece and we installed 9. Unfortunately they don't put out enough light for our application so we're gonna have to put in another 3. On the good side the GE installations guy told us that our facility is one of the most interference free he's ever seen. Which means better quality scans from the machine.
