Coastal Weekend Get-Away

Anyone have any good suggestions for a weekend get away somewhere along the coast, or anywhere in Cali? I want to do one last trip before the baby is born.

I wanted to go to Disney Land, but I cant ride any rides. I was then thinking the caves, but I cant walk very well anymore…..

That leaves the coast, but I wanted to go somewhere that had a little more to it then just enjoying the view, yet I am restricted in how far I can walk or how difficult that walk can be (to give you an idea, I have trouble getting out of the car or a chair, but once I am up I can move forward and handle small stairs with railings)

I am being a picky woman here, I am board and want to do something but I have to be realistic in the fact that I can’t do that much.

Anyone have an area they would like to suggest or an activity that would be fun to do?

You know I like the Fort Bragg/Mendocino area. There are a ton of great hotels/motels in that area that aren't too expensive and have incredible views. Josey and I usually stay at the Beachcomber Motel but when we stayed there last the service wasn't as good as we were used to. I think we'd try somewhere new.

Check out www.fortbragg.com and you can find lodging in town and around the area.

I work up at Fort Bragg quite often, Mendocino is a very nice place to visit. When my boss comes out for a visit he stays in at the Little River Inn, which is very nice. The Beachcomber is a good one, and at the end of town at Fort Bragg (as you are heading North on Highway 1) there is a place called the White Whale Inn or The Whale Inn or something similar that was recommened to me, never stayed there though. Mendocino is a very nice town to walk around in, Ft. Bragg has some neat shoppies and great food if you try the Mendo Bistro or Piaci's (stay away from the Clifhouse, way overpriced, not that great of food and service). I'm going up this next week in fact for some more fun field time If you don't like twisty roads though, stay away from the 20, take the 128 over.

hmmm I am considering Mendocino, use to go there a ton as a kid. If we took the 128 over we would pass through Philo, my uncle owns the only store in town there, so we could stop in and say hi to him. I know his girls have to drive into Mendocino for school and such.

There is a great burger place called Jenny's around there too.

I think Mr. Xevious wants something a little more excitting though.

Word to that. We liked Mendo Bistro and the Northcoast Brewing Co. restaurant. Fun Fact - the Northcoast Brewing Co. restaurant is in a building that used to serve as the morgue

Because the beachcomber has balconies (or patios depending on floor), we always like to go to Safeway in town and get deli sandwiches some wine/champagne (usually both) and other snacks and eat dinner on our balcony. We open a bottle of wine, enjoy it with our food and take in the incredible view. I could do that year round

monterey is always nice, but kinda spendy if you want to stay anyplace nicer than a motel 6.

fort bragg is cool, and mr. xevious can have his excitement if you take Hwy 20 from I5 to 101.

Me and my family use to go there every year when they lived in California. I sware it was holiday inn that we went to. But its the first hotel you see on the right when you come into town. You can see the whole bay. The beach is right there. Its really cool.
