I wouldn't know. I've never been to a track day, so I can't speak from actual experience. I'm sure some of the other guys have experience there.

It does look like a combination of classroom training, along with laps in your car that feature experienced instructors who can give you advice while you're driving. The goal is not to go fast, but to improve your driving skills, while driving at a speed that is safe for your level of experience.
