We've already taken over some Army Missions, in 2012 were going to take some Marine Missions, now Navy, why float when u can fly. . . so chairforce has evolved. In future, were going to be one combined military force.

First - "Any users of AR-15?"
- Yes Military and Civilian. I personally have a M4 legnth 5.56, a midlength 5.56, and am currently working on a full length AR10 (7.62). I have built all my ARs from the ground up and wouldnt do it any other way.
Second - "Is it worth it?"
- IMO, it is worth it. If you have the cash to spend then its worth it, if you do not have the cash then i would say hold off as it costs a pretty penny to build or purchase an AR. I shoot my AR at least once a week, i get a lot of use out of it and do many defensive courses which are tons of fun. If you are a shooter then an AR15 is a great addition to any collection.
Lastly - "Can anyone recommend me a good place to get it from?"
- Personally i wouldnt buy a prebuilt AR-15, especially from a shop and at this point in time. There is a huge inflation right now due to the new administration and such. I will say though that it seems the inflation is starting to pass and most prices are starting to go back down, but they are still definitely very high.
I would say pieceing the AR together is "usually" the cheapest and best way to go. This is nice too because you can pick and choose what you want therefore the rifle is exactly how you want it. If you do piece it together i would definitely do research on how to piece it together and what is legal. To make it simple the AR has to be at least 30" to the tip of the barrel not counting the flash hider. If its 30" to the tip of the flash hider then they flash hider has to be pinned or perminantely affixed. You can not have any magazine larger then 10 rounds unless its preban. The Lower reciever has to be an Off List Lower Reciever (OLL), list can be found on cal guns. Lastly if you have an interchangeable magazine you can not have any "evil" features...collasable stock, pistol grip, forward vert grip, etc. If you have a fixed magazine then you can have the "evil" features. Thats a vert basic look a the laws so make sure you fully read and understand the rules.
You can buy the parts from shops and the black powder rifle shop (i believe thats the name, it was mentioned above) carrys anything and everything and has decent prices. If you are LEO or MIL they usually cut you a discount. Calguns.net is a great website to source info on building and parts. There are many great vendors on there and many great private sellers with great items at an even better price. My last rifle i built solely from buying parts off of cal guns from members and vendors.
As for brands, obviously Bushmaster, Colt, LMT, Noveske, etc are all the name brand parts and are considered the best. I have used the CMMG, STAG, etc lower end parts and they honestly work just fine for rec use. Its really all up to you, if you have the money to blow and want the best of the best then go ahead and get name brand parts. If you rahter just get an AR for as cheap as possible then buy the lower end parts. Personally they all work the same IMO; with that said i still went with name brand parts because they are more reliable. Basically the name brand parts are subject to more testing and therefore made stronger and more reliable.
I think that answered most of your questions. if you have anything else shoot me a PM.
- Will
I'm also in the market for a AR-15. Lots of good stuff here http://www.sacramentoblackrifle.com/category_s/2.htm
