5. who has g4 cube anymore?
6. we rarelly need to look for hidden files like you would on a pc.
7. that is just good practice
8.http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/java/
another reason why mac better than pc is because of the operating system, one of the most stable os out there. also we actually work on the opperating system. pc have to use windows which is not really a os, it is a program that runs on dos which allows a pc computer to work.

4. what if the power is off.. or god forbid which I have happened before, the box crashes with a disk in it and the button does not work ?
5. I do
6. hello computer illiterate
7. OH NOES HOT SWAP HARDWARE !!
8. where is the download link.. oh wai.. there is not one ... That page tells you about Java, not allow you to download and install it
oh yeah.. you have used a win32 OS before right? show me where DOS is and how Win2k or WinXP runs on top of Dos.
you did see that OSX got hacked in like 30 minuets last week right? Spare me the "OSX is sooooooo good" routine, mine crashes all the time (har har G4 jokez)
oh yeah, looks like spell checker on Win32> OSX

Turnabout's fair play.
1. I'm not even going to get into this; if you try to argue software availability for Macs you're a crackhead.
2. So it's ok if you purchase another input interface on top of the initial purchase price to get usability.
3. So as long as you have the latest and greatest, you're kosher.
4. Ever have to walk a PC-centric user through it? You've never had the eject button on the keyboard not work?
5. Well, the Cube is just an example, but we've got a couple of them around, and have customers with them all the time. Again, as long as you have the latest and greatest at full price, you're kosher. Sweet.
6. "I don't have to do it, so it doesn't matter that it's hard." App developers and support for multi-platform software have to deal with this crap daily.
7. So an OS that can't recover from a simple hardware disconnection is robust?
8. That's great, info about Java, I can't DL it except through the Apple update system, and I'm limited to whatever Apple makes available to me instead of being able to obtain it from Sun when they actually fix ****, and use a standard release? Don't even get me started on Apple's Java packages and **** they break in internet apps (that have no problems on PC's on new Sun Java installs).
And, Apple tossed their entire OS codebase to build on Unix. PC's have run Unix for years. Windows hasn't had anything to do with DOS since windows 98/ME, so your statements about OS layers are just uninformed. While we're talking about platforms, how's that PPC system going to work for you in 6 months when Apple phases out support for non-Intel systems? Planned obsolescence FTL. How many updates for the OS have you had to pay for since the first release of X?
But hey, do whatcha like. I have an Ipod, I like the aesthetics of some of the new hardware, I just don't feel a need to switch.

Im by no means a tech PC or Mac guy, but I like to dumb it down like this --
Business and video games - PC
Audio/Video - Mac
As far as price, yes the mac is much more, but to have similiar performance a PC would endup costing a lot. Im on a PC at work right now and absolutely love my Mac when I get home.

And OMG I cant stand the 'hidden' files MAC OS puts on every writable disk that comes near it. resorce fork this. (dot)trashes that. WTF???????
Leave my **** alone.
Leave my **** alone.
we can go on and on and on and on. i guess it is just prefernce. its like an sti and a evo they are both cars and do pretty much the same thing. one has things that the other doesnt and visa versa. the car you get is goin to give you what you demand from it. its all in the end user. its all just prefernce.

Like I said, it's preference, but Macs no longer have the edge on PC's when it comes to A/V; it's not 1998 anymore.
A PC comparable to a given Mac is usually half the price; you can build an expensive PC, but the only ones that are close in price/performance are the boutique manufacturers and gaming rigs like Alienwares.
A PC will win the cost/benefit analysis every single time. I also hate proprietary hardware, so that's why I'll never own a Mac. I use the one I've got here for testing and as a jukebox, becuase it's not useful to me otherwise (granted, it's a G3 imac)

i think he is talking about the production of video and audio. most studio's run g5 with prologic, reason, or finalscratch stuff like that for aduio, and final cut pro for video. mac are still the number one pic for this stuff and also design and layout. go to almost any design firm or music or video studio they are using a mac set up. i know this cause i am in the business. i have yet to go to a studio where they are using a pc set up
