2008 Impreza...believe it or not?
Absolutely none. Toyota only owns like 8% of Subaru, by the way.
The new Impreza is based of a modified version current Legacy chassis. The Blade is based of the Corolla chassis IIRC.

i dunno...te lines look too similar to be a coincidence:

bodylines are almost identical.
look at the rocker panels along the bottom of the doors...spot on.

and the tailights hit in the exact same spot!
toyota is known for using crossover chassis for multiple bodies.
i wonder if they released the new impreza chassis as a Blade in Japan to fill their lineup?
i know they only have a small stake in Subaru, but being a big hitter i bet they're more involved than just that 8%.

No, its just 8.something% right now. They bought less then half of GMs original investment (20%). The door was just opened by the Japanese government, though, for Toyota to invest more in Subaru.
The exterior designs may be similar (I don't really think they are any more similar to each other than to any other current hatchback), but underneath its hard to engineer a frame that suits both AWD boxer engines and FWD transverse mounted engines.

The exhaust comes down the drivers side, and enters a transverse mounted muffler with the tip on the right side.

i think its sick. the grill needs to go but remember this is only a concept. i remember seeing 'pictures' of the 06 imprezas and they didnt look all that fantastic, very rough. then it actually came out and i saw pictures and it looked good. i already think this model is cool, the tail lights need some work too, or just put over some red rock blocker film. pretty neat little hatch that hauls ***, i would rock one!

i'm not saying it's fact, but there are striking similarities.
i grabbed a screen shot of the Blade interior and put it side by side with the WRX concept. (obviously i flipped the RHD Blade).

they're sorta similar and share some lines (like the instrument cluster shape and center consoles are similar).
it's possible, but just not identical enough to say for sure.
it just theory, but I know how toyota has handled some of their lines and it seems similar.
plus, it just seemed too quick for Subaru to completely redesign an entirely new chassis and body without leaks to the media previously.
the time-line IMO makes me suspect a predone chassis design tweaked enough to be specific for Subaru.
I mean, honestly, there was no concept sketches, or designs leaks until this year.
most chassis with that major of a ground up redesign ever make it to production in that short of a time period.
to go from ground-up redesign to prodution ready design in less than 6 months is unrealistic IMO w/o some already predone chassis engineering
and BTW: the Blade comes in AWD and a newly redesigned double-wishbone rear suspension design....hhmmm?

There were tons of leaks. Spyshots of a test mule have been out for like 6 months or more now and sketches of this shape for almost a year. You are right about one thing, this isn't a new chassis from the ground up. But, its not a Toyota chassis. The chassis is a modified version of the current Legacy chassis. Which is perfect because the Indiana plants are already tooled up to create Legacy chassis. It even is using the Legacy motor, intake manifold, intercooler (and likely the same turbo).
Yes, I agree there are some very similar lines and bits here and there. But, they share similar design patterns, not design implementations IMO. From everything Toyota has said, they have no desire to designing Subaru cars. In fact, the opposite is true, they want Subaru engineers to design their cars
