We ran two run groups just to break things up. There were 4 novice drivers and by having two groups we could have two different sets of passing rules. If you wanted to, you could have run in both run groups all day long and had 5 hours of track time.

I ordered some mild coilovers that should arrive over the weekend. That plus a better pad since I ran on the ultimates should net around 2:17 on my edurasuckies (Sumitomos!)
If anybody is interested, here is my first impression of the 06 at the track.
The car is stock except that I flushed the factory brake fluid and replaced it with MOTUL 600 and changed the front pads to Axxis Ultimates. I also picked up a set of used track-dedicated wheels with Sumitomo tires (already on the wheels.)
Brakes
- After one session the front rotor temp, as measured by the laser pyrometer, was 500F and caliper was 296F. The brake pads were inadequate. The front pads on the Subaru 4-pots are the same as on the 90-96 Nissan 300zxTT and as I had the Ultimates for the Z laying around I decided to utilize them. Not a good choice! I doubt I boiled any brake fluid (I will verify that over the weekend but my brake pedal is rather firm right now) but I did got some moderate pad-induced fade. In fact, on the back straight I was braking on marker 4 (if you imagine that there was one.) On the front straight I was braking at marker 3 as I was hitting 113-114 before needing to brake and I could not carry more then 82-83 mph through the T1. I already ordered a set of Panther+ pads for the front. I am pretty sure those will work out great after I resurface the rotors (or manage to rub off the transfer film through some other means...)
Suspension
- First I must say that in the high speed turns it did very well. I was carrying decent speeds through T1/T8 and to some extent through T9 but the low speed turns were less interesting. I am sure tires were part of the issue as I was running used Sumitomo tires. The car leans so much that through the esses I miss-shifted several times (2-3 upshift.)
The car actually rotated reasonably well with a little bit of trail braking. I did not notice any of the post apex full-throttle understeer to oversteer transition that some other WRX track junkies warned me about.
Power
- Adequate for now. I short shifted the whole day @ 6k since the engine has around 2k miles on it.
My lap time in the last session was 2:21:04 - not too bad but by that time I had no confidence in the brakes so I was braking pretty early. I am pretty sure that with Panther+ pads I can be in high 2:18s or low 2:19 even on the Sumitomos. I should have recorded my lap times early in the day when I felt I was faster but my friend was using my lap timer... I will have a chance to do that on 11/11.

i kinda want to take my car out there now to see what kind of lap times ide get. cause on my bike i was scared ****less but having the time of my life, best lap of the day was a 2:35. in my defense i did get held up by traffic in turns 5, 10, 11, and 14 on that lap (there were over 50 people on the track at one time) so who knows. and i didnt go out for the last session cause 2 of my friends ate **** in turn 5 that sessiion and i was a bit shookin up. anywho, now that i know the track and have been working on my body position i hope to be in the low 1:20's next time i go out, and then ill just work my way down. how much do the car track days cost on average?

Usually it's $225-$250 depending on what group you run with.

I was somewhat surprised when I found out that my car was mentioned on this forum. I use to own a Subie too though it was an Outback.
