Georgetown Ice Race on Sunday

The most fun you will have going slow (and sideways). Come down and help us kick off the New Year. You need a helmet and $35 if you aren't an SCCA member. If you are under 18 you need a special waiver signed by your folks.
More information is here:

http://www.awdpirates.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=306

You can pre-register as late as 5 am on Sunday at the SCCA web site or you can sign up between 7:30 and 8:30 am Sunday.

www.coloradorallycross.org

See you there!

Yea, I guess we caused a bit of a traffic jam. Sorry about that! We had several people get off the highway and want to sign up on the spot. The average race time each car got was about 15 minutes compared to about 3 minutes at your local Solo II. After it was all over fun runs turned into donut time!

Our next event is at Rainbow Falls in two weeks. The next race at Georgetown is a Subie only event on the 25th of Februray. Only three spaces left. No experience needed.

Anyone ever worried about falling through? That would scare the crap out of me.

The ice has to be 12" thick to be safe. The ice fisherman checked it for us and it was between 3-7 feet thick. Georgetown Lake is at 9,500 feet. Various groups race there every weekend in January and February for the past thirty years without a problem.

Interesting. Looks like a heck of a lot of fun if I could get over my fear of falling through.

The Subaru event is not an SCCA event. Our Gang 4 Wheelers is sanctioning it. You need to sign up here:

www.awdpirates.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=163

AWDpirates is the most active Subaru community in Colorado. Only two spots left. Tires must be DOT street legal. Studs or snow tires work best.

Last year most people got there around 10 am for practice runs. I think the racing started around noon and every body was done by 2. A motorcycle helmet should be fine. Last year I don't think they even required them. More details should be coming soon.
