i'm very pleased with how this mount performed. i bought the suction cup mount pictured above with the 3" extension.
here's just two of the vids i'm working on from using this mount:

these have been posted to my other boards and folks aren't having issue with playing them. maybe you need to download the free realplayer software?

Here is how to make a secure camera mount for a few bucks. This one will pass tech at track events where objects must be securely bolted to the car.

Car Info: STI Track Car, Titan Tow Vehicle, Mazda3 DD
I know that none of the groups I've run with would pass that mount. It must be "securely attached to the car, and tethered." Maybe if the camera was tethered so that there's no way it could make it to the driver or the pedals, some places might pass it.
