Stock WRX vs other cars
How do you think a stock WRX would match up in an autocross against other cars of similar power? Let's say, for example, a RSX, Boxster (non-S), 330i, A4 3.0 Quattro, S2000... any others? How much do you think the AWD is helping? Is the turbo an issue (compared to a larger displacement NA engine)? In fact, if you're really ambitious, feel free to rank the listed cars in order of competitiveness.
I've never autoX'd before, and I realize that the WRX is built to be a rally car rather than an autoX car. But I'm just kind of curious to see how my car would stack up if I ever decide to take it autoX it.

i seriously averaged 4 to 5 second faster lap times with the better tires (oh yeah i upgraded to yokohama avs intermediate tires on some rota slipstreams 225/50/16)

unfortunately there are never equal drivers when you auto-x
but if there is then here is my opinion
RSX = non type s wrx wins, type s, wrx loses
A4 3.0 quatro = close, but the wrx will win
s200= wrx loses
Boxster non s = wrx will win
bmw 330i = wrx will win again

The real answer here, is:
Acura RSX-S - Interesting, but should be beatable
Acura RSX - G Stock
Porsche Boxster - B Stock
BMW 330i (non-perf pkg) - A real problem
Audi A4-30Q - G Stcok
Honda S2000 - B Stock, no comparison
Audi S4 - Equal
The only real competition for a stock WRX (and this assumes D Stock rules) are the BMW330, and Audi S4's. Some of the cars listed are faster, hence the B stock classification, and some slower, such as the Audi. This is why I threw in the S4. I will tell you that I would instinctivley fear a 330, since I race against a 328 out here in Los Angeles. We battle back and forth, but for the year I am in the lead. He is also on Kumho Ecsta V700, and me on Falken Azenis. I think when I switch up to V700's that should put that to rest. I do know that we were both getting wiped out by a properly prepared Acura Interga Type-R. The only cars that are really competition on the D stock class are cars that have great factory suspensions, such as the BMW, Audi, and Integra (the RSX is too under powered, and de-tuned suspension). I also just noticed they put the Neon SRT-4, 2002+ Sentra Spec V, Volvo S60R, MazdaSpeed Protege in D Stock.
IMHO:
SRT-4 - no LSD, whill be the death of it for Auto-x
Spec V - Too heavy, suspect suspension is also set for comfort rather than complete performance
S60R - way too heavy! + Usually elect. technology hurts a car in auto-x
Protege - Same as the SRT-4, not great at putting the power down (2 wheels, instead of 4), but could be a car to contend with.

As for the protege, I think the mazdaspeed one has an LSD, not to mention a turbo...
Oh and The Spec V's I have seen seem to have pretty stiff suspension from the factory. ALthough I havent driven one so who knows

And don't tell me my wagon was never meant to be auto-xed, or any WRX for that matter. That's a very, very stupid statement. Auto-x is a sport where ANY CAR can compete in. If you tweak them a little here and there, they get very fast. Also seat time is king. Learn it's quirks and deal with them.
That said, there'll alwyas be people out there that through skill or luck will beat you. You have to understand that, and never give up.
