All things being equal, since KE (Kinetic Energy) = 1/2*M*V^2, and since most Generic Isotropic Steel Alloys yield at 165ksi (kilo-lbs/in^2), the answer is:

well...lighter cars give you a better chance in avoiding the accident in the first place. These days...the technology is there to make a light car have the same safety features as a big one. I can see how that one dude on the other forum is trying to use physics, but once again, just like mule2k said, there are too many factors in every accident.
