i usually just go out and have fun
not much to prepare. it is strongly suggested to make sure you have the right tire pressure though. so just stop by a gas station on your way there and go have fun

I didnt really take the time to read the links, but one thing I see people doing is making last minute changes to their cars. Thats a huge NO NO. Personally, I think the biggest mistake for Auto-X newbies is seat placement. I see everyone tilting their seats or slamming them forward. Just keep it in the same position as when you usually drive.
