film is shot something like 25 frames . when it comes out on DVD and stuff it gets post-processed and displays at 60 frames a second . thats where the upconversion stuff comes in. cheaper tv's usually handle upconversion pretty bad so standard def (regular TV) come out looking like crap also.... i don't know how many frames broadcast tv is sent at .

I remember alot of old TV were HD Ready and you needed a HD conversion box.
I don't know if that is still true with newer TV now.

never had a vizio but i believe they're both mediocre brands. my friend has the westinghouse one and it's good for what it does.

they've gotten around 6 out of 10 for most of their hdtvs. they are the 2nd best seller of hdtvs in north america (was #1 until samsung took over recently in the top spot - so that says something, right?).

I sold one of those today. It has a sick contrast ratio. Better then the XBR4 from Sony. And 120mhz refresh rate.

It was $2350 last week. It's $2050 this week.
