Good luck Burnsie. Prove the doctors wrong.
EDIT: Yes this is a report by the Mirror, a tabloid. But the Mirror deals in sensationalism, not making up fake stories. Their main source is "a pal" and "a friend" of Burns, which could just as easily be true as it is fugged. But still, it is the only news released since November on his condition.

RALLYING: RALLY KING BURNS RULED OUT FOR ANOTHER YEAR
By Byron Young
FORMER world rally champion Richard Burns, who underwent surgery for a brain tumour four months ago, has been told by surgeons he will be out of action for two years rather than one.
Burns (left), who turned 33 in January, had hoped to return to action with the Subaru team next year.
Close friends revealed Burns has thrown himself into a training regime determined to prove the doctors wrong. Friends and doctors have been truly amazed at the way he has faced the issue with such courage and determination.
"His attitude has been just incredible,'' said a close pal. "He is back training and has thrown himself into his health and fitness. He is in much better shape and we are all very pleased to see the progress he has been making.
"But he has been told he will have to miss this season and the next.
"Obviously he wants to be back in a car as soon as possible. But the doctors have told him they don't give a damn about the rallying.
"It is his health that is their top priority.''
Doctors first diagnosed his tumour when he blacked out while driving his Porsche on the M4 on the way to the Wales Rally GB last November.
Passenger Marko Martin, a fellow rally driver, had to grab the wheel and steer the speeding car to safety.
Later Burns, who was due to rejoin the Subaru team this year after two years with Peugeot, blacked out again in the reception of his hotel. Scans at a London hospital revealed a tumour called an astrocytoma, which has been treated with radiotherapy and surgery.
At the time Burns was told he would be out for 2004 and it was a blow when he learned it could be 2006 before he is back in action in the world rally championship.
Burns has launched into a regime hoping to defy that prediction.
"Everyone is really behind him and amazed at how he is handling it,'' added the friend.

i think its bs
the mirror... isnt that the same thing like USA's the star or whatever the magazine is... they arent even worth using to wipe my butt... those reports are crap... just like the one that says Fergie might be shipping out giggs, forlan, and butt out of ManUtd... he'll go before they do... dont think there is a reason to believe those reports... besides, i did my research on real rally sites, no news of that at all

You are right, the Mirror may not be the best source in the UK, but it is the only news regarding Burns in the past few months.
This article actually has been all over rally forums but still hasn't been reported on by any actual news reporting sites.

With that major an situation, the docs will always want to err on the safe side, I'd believe the bit about them saying he's sidelined next year will shurly motivate him to prove them wrong.
But its true- the docs don't care about Rallying, they want to give him what they feel is the best chance for a full recovery
Hell, Lance Armstrong was told he'd never be in top racing form again back when he went through his cancer treatment, and that was what- 4 or 5 Tour de France wins ago?
I'd take any news of Burns recovery as good news and we'll keep hoping he's back in a Rally car as soon as he feels good enough to be there.

Richard Burns is no longer in hospital and doctors believe that they are making real progress in treating his brain tumour.
Burns has completed a lengthy course of radiotherapy to combat an astrocytoma, the tumour that caused him to black out days before last November’s Rally GB and prevented him from taking up a drive with Subaru this year. However, while he left hospital at the end of May, the 33-year-old former World Champion is continuing to receive chemotherapy.
“The treatment’s still continuing. I think the feeling of the people close to him at the moment is that we are making progress, but that we’ve got still a fair way to go,” Burns’s co-driver Robert Reid said.

Even he recovers, it might be hard for him to find a WRC seat again after 2 years of blank.
Hirvonen is doing pretty good and there are bunch of young guys in super1600, you know..
wish his best luck

Richard Burns has just had his first interview since being diagnosed with cancer last season. The interview is mainly about his new video game, Richard Burns Rally, but in it he answers a few questions on his life, cancer and the current World Rally Championship.

questions and answers of note:
Q: Have you been keeping up to date with the WRC season, what do you think of it and who do you think looks like winning?
Of course! I have been watching from hospital and now following it at my flat. I think it’s all really exciting; I would have to say it’s between Petter and Sebastian for the title, but it’s going to be a close call. There are some interesting new rallies for this year too.
Q: Your health has obviously been cause for much concern, how are you feeling now?
I’m feeling a lot better, this has obviously been an incredibly difficult time but I left hospital about 6 weeks ago which is such a boost for me personally. I’m still undergoing regular treatment which will continue until the consultants sign me off. The level of support from my family, friends and fans has been incredible and is very much appreciated.
