Simonster, I'm looking to sell my Canon T1i + 18-55mm kit lens. I also have a brand new Canon 70-300mm telephoto. Let me know if you're interested.
Also keep in mind that some people new to DSLR's get disappointed when comparing straight-out-of-the-cam pics between high-end P&S's and DSLR's. In general it takes a little more tweaking/post-processing to get photos to look their best. Some cameras have better JPEG engines than others, and that is usually the case with P&S's. But that's where the beauty of working with RAW files comes in.

oh crap, was wondering where this thread went lol. so i've decided to go with the nikon d5000. i like having the vari-angle screen cuz i take weird pictures that i normally wouldn't be able to take without a screen like that lol. going to buy it sometime in the next 2 weeks. sample pictures will be up after
