V-Tec power, whatever...
Sorry to come out harsh.
I love my 1990 Legacy SW, it has logged on more than 170xxx miles and it's still going strong...albeit the speedometer doesnt work that is why i stopped counting at 170 cuz the odometer doesnt work :P
And I love my Honda as well, the Honda has seen many changes and has been boosted for a year of its life and never did I run in any problems.
The Subie I havent barely scratched the surface on what I can do to the car. Would love to get an AVO turbo kit, but i dont think the motor will hold up for very long....maybe soon.
But to all Subie onwers let's not get to the level were ricers are by being ignorant.

So I start a thread, simply stating an observation, and perhaps a bit of a comment on the particular individuals involved. It wasn't meant to stereotype EVERYONE who drives a Honda. I certainly don't think Honda's suck, and likewise don't think everyone who drives a Subaru is worthy of my accolades either. It was just an observation of what I found to be an entertaining little event on the beach. I thought someone else might find it as amusing as I.
You guys can make of it whatever you want...no wonder I don't peruse this club much anymore

Most car manufactors have their own version of variable valve timing, but honda's been using there DHOC VTEC motor (b18c1) since 94.
VTEC does use three lobes on the cam. At about 4000 rpm oil pressure pushes on a pin which links all three lobes together. Certain models have a secondary set of runners in the intant manifold which open at 6k rpm which makes a loud pitch change.
There is now IVTEC which is VVT on both intake and exhaust cams.

Uh, speaking of lessons...no one with any common car sense is saying Honda's suck. I remind you again that this all began by a simple amusing observation while recreating on the beautiful beaches of our beloved state. However, it does seem that those coming to the defense of said automobile have some trouble with the language....
Mr. machaf used the word manufactors. I believe he meant manufacturer...as in one who manufactures.
Now I don't pretend to know everything about engines, but I have yet to see a intant manifold, another phrase Mr. machaf used. I'm guessing he was referring to the "intake" manifold? Maybe intant is slang for intake? I dunno.
Please do not be offended by my observations, as I certainly do not intend to offend. I certainly am not immune to grammatical infractions.
This concludes today's "lesson".

it's cool, brah. And just so you know...I laughed at a vtec Integra for looking all ghetto...until I saw him get on it and race a new Firebird and hold his own. I thought for sure he would get blown away. (but I still laughed at him for racing too.)
anyhoo... they would have blown my piece away.

But I just have to correct homie, Honda released the first ever VTEC motor in 1988 with the release of the Honda CRX Si VTEC in Japan.
Thats all! Lets all sleep now

Well, I got some friends who just got an '04 Accord V6. We rode in it out to dinner Saturday night from Issaquah to Snoqualmie. Four of us in that car, and I just gotta say it was AWESOME. Very nice car. Quiet, smooth and tons of power. Hats off to Honda for that fine automobile.
