recommendations for alarm system install?
Hey everyone, anyone know of a good place to get an alarm installed? I have a 2000 RS coupe, and I'm worried about taking my car just anywhere. Dont mind paying to get it done right, just dont want any bozo working on it. Also, is there any particular model or brand of alarm would you reccomend? I would get a stock system, but they are way too much, especially since i dont have the keyless entry system. Thanks for the help
Well I dunno what you guys have up there in Canadia but in the US we have large chain stores like Best Buy and Circuit City. These stores usually sell a certain brand of alarm and guarantee and warranty their work so if there is any problem with the alarm in the future you can take it to them and they'll fix it.
If you have similar electronics store chains in Canada then use one of them.

I moved your thread to the Pacific Northwest forum because there isn't much traffic in the Canada forum.

He did say that he didn't want any bozo working on it.
Saddly, Best Buy and Circuit City = where most of the bozos work.
I would recommend finding a specialty car stereo / electronics shop and have it installed there. True you have a guarantee and warranty at the major shops but I have had nothing but bad luck at the major retailers. Their motto must be Volume of installs a day > quality of work.
BTW I have a Clifford G4 alarm (newer line of G5 alarms is out now) and its been solid, but as you state it's all in the installation.
Just my opinion... Gook luck!

Just take all information out of your car when you take it to a place. You don't want them to know were you live. If you happen to get it done at a shaddy place it has been know they make a so called back door code and they come to were you live and steal back the alarm and stereo stuff they just installed. If you don't give them your work or home address or leave that info laying around in the car it makes it that much harder. Also if you come down to the US. It might prevent that too.
I hear Magnolia HiFi is not that bad of place but then one can be good and the next could have a bozo working there just like the other chain stores mentioned above.
